Sip, sip, drunk, horray!
We're really chuffed to have received 12 sought-after Great Taste awards that reflect the level of care, attention and quality we obsess over!
It’s not just an award for us. It’s for the people who grow our tea and bake our biscuits. It’s for the people who deliver and pack it too. The people who drink it, dunk it, and share it. We’re a community and having recognition like this brings us all together, from all corners of the world. We're very proud of everyone and all their contributions in making top quality tea and treats Ringtons is renowned for.
Brigitte Keatings, Director and 5th generation family member said: I’m absolutely delighted with the stars we’ve received, including for some of our customers' favourites. It’s a great testament to the exceptional taste and quality we pride ourselves on.”
So, a big drumroll... here's our winners!
Ringtons Gold Tea Bags – 2-star award
The judges’ comments: Glowing orange in the cup; the aroma is certainly bright and fresh, and slightly honeyed. Bright and fresh on the palate, albeit with marked tannicity. It does take milk well, still maintaining brisk, fresh appeal; not hugely flavoury (though one taster detected unexpected notes of Ovaltine!) but certainly bright and invigorating.
A neat, evenly made CTC leaf gives the infusion a bright coppery look. The liquor is very bright and vibrant, it is brisk, full bodied and flavoursome, a really balanced blend. This brew reflects the great quality of tea estates used in the blend.
Wonderfully fresh, with a sweet and malty character, a great black tea blend. The appearance is good, golden with good brightness. Creamy and mellow, with a sweet honeyed flavour.
Ringtons Breakfast Tea Bags – 2-star award
The judges’ comments: Brightly coloury and reasonably bright in aroma, with marked maltiness. The blend takes milk well, as expected, remaining fresh, brisk and bright with some Ovaltine tonality. Not complex but malty and invigorating.
There is bags of freshness punching through on the quality of this blend. The flavours of the individual origins combine to produce a rich, full-bodied tea with a brisk character.
Excellent flavour, floral notes from the African component and great body and strength from the Assam. The freshness is indeed evident, and the tea has a wonderful bright and coloury appearance.
Ringtons Breakfast Loose Tea – 2-star award
The judges’ comments: Thick liquor with good briskness and body - as well as evident freshness. It takes milk extremely well with maltiness nicely in evidence.
Ringtons Hand Baked Ginger Snaps – 2-star award
The judges’ comments: This looks good – with a bit of texture on the surface, circular, no nonsense, and it snaps well. It is a bit crumbly. There is a good, warm, cooked ginger smell, a terrific crunch, and lovely melt. It's not too sweet, not too gingery but gingery enough. There are lovely toasty overtones. It is simple but simply delicious.
This is a lovely looking artisanal biscuit with a great colour and a super snap. There is a real hit of ginger and molasses on the nose. What a rich delight of flavour and texture! It is really delicious. We particularly liked the balance between the sweetness of sugar and caramel and the ginger – and for us it delivered a faultless combination.
The size is perfect - generous. The bake is great - what a snap! Treacle ginger notes on the nose. The ginger is well-judged and the overall biscuit is delicious! Light, crunchy and full of attitude.

What are The Great Taste Awards?
Great Taste is the world’s largest and most trusted food and drink accreditation scheme, it's a honour to gain this highly respected accreditation. Products are blind taste-tested by a panel of experts often including the demanding palettes of chefs, critics, buyers and journalists, to gain honest and impartial feedback, and are given a seal of approval with a 1, 2 or 3 star accolade.
The scheme is ran by the Guild of Fine Food who's objective is to 'drive excellency within the independent food and drink sector, for the benefit of producers, retailers and consumers'. More information on the Guild and the Great Taste Awards can be found here.
What do the stars mean?
A one-star award is given to a product that is simply delicious. Two-stars represent an outstanding product. Three-stars are given to products that are faultless or absolutely exquisite!
These little stars provide you with added confidence that the product you are about to buy has been vigorously tested and that it’s going to deliver. That little sticker is a marker of quality you can trust.
